It’s GREAT to be a Kid at Port Wentworth UMC

Posted on Jan 8, 2019

The Kids’ Club at our church just keeps growing and growing! In 2019 we are adding after school homework help and tutoring on Wednesdays, MYF is EVERY Sunday night and one can only imagine what is in store for us this summer! By the end of the school year, we have plans to go to the of King and Country concert, participate in the Stand Up for America Day parade, have our own skate night and have another lock-in! We will also have more rooms painted and remodeled for us to use!

Here is our set schedule (many other fun things are added in and we will post them as they come up):

Sundays: 10am – Sunday School – all ages are welcome to join us as we learn how to apply the Bible to our daily lives!

Sundays: 11am – Worship Servce – we sit on the front pew in the sanctuary!

Sundays: 5:45pm – Methodist Youth Fellowship – 4th-12 graders – we have a light meal and LOTS of fun – we have the church to ourselves on Sunday nights and have a great time playing games or whatever our crazy adult leaders come up with for us to do. Keep an eye on the calendar for details.

Wednesdays: 4pm – After school homework help and tutoring – all ages – we have a lot of retired school teachers at our church and many others who are willing to help and want to see us succeed at school!

Wednesdays: 5:45pm – Supper – all ages – we get a homecooked meal and we have our very own dining room!

Wednesdays: 6:15pm – Kids’ Club – all ages – we have a short Bible study and then make cards and crafts for church members who are sick or in the hospital. Or sometimes we just go outside and run around!

This is the hallway of pictures from all of the things we did in 2018! We already have a wall started for 2019!

This is our Sunday School/Kids’ Club room. Come join us!

Already this month, we sang at the Christmas tree lighting in Port Wentworth and watched Elf while chowing down on nachos and cotton candy!! Here’s what else we have going on in December (please come join us):

Wednesday, December 5: 5:45- 7pm – Wednesday night supper then we will be sorting through the presents we have been able to purchase for our 5 needy children and praying over them. Then we will write letters to our sponsored child in Africa.

Sunday, December 9: 3pm – We will be going to the Christmas show at the Savannah Theater in downtown Savannah. Tickets have already been purchased for this event, so it is closed. Those going had to earn points through attendance, Bible verse memorization, and merit. There will be many more fun opportunities in the future!

Wednesday, December 12: 5:45 – 7pm – Wednesday night supper then we will be writing Christmas letters to our military.

Saturday, December 15: 8-11am – At First Baptist Church we will be assembling food baskets to distribute to our neighbors in need.
